Critical components demand a critical eye.
Pacific Rubber & Packing knows that o-ring seals are one of the most simple, yet highly critical, precision mechanical components ever developed. With this in mind, and with an eye for precision, we're proud of the custom projects we've developed for discerning customers in need of critical tolerance parts.
Here are just a few examples:
- Mattson Technology Inc., a firm that designs, manufactures and markets advanced fabrication equipment used in semiconductor manufacturing, came to Pacific Rubber with a highly specialized need. The firm required cleaned o-rings for their semiconductor chemical vapor deposition (CVD) tools. After reviewing the specifications and requirements for the o-rings, Pacific Rubber implemented a cleaning cell to process the parts. We developed a customized recipe using deionized (DI) water and ultrasonic agitation to reduce the number of particles commonly found on manufactured o-rings. The parts were cleaned using a nitrogen purge technique and were then packaged in our Class 1000 cleanroom.
- A requirement for critical-tolerance parts led Applied Materials to contact Pacific Rubber. Applied Materials, considered the global leader in providing equipment, services and software to the semiconductor, flat panel display and solar photovoltaic industries, was searching for special seals for its chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) tools. These seals must meet rigorous tolerances, and be properly cleaned and packaged. Pacific Rubber worked hand-in-hand with Applied Materials to develop molding techniques to produce these critical tolerance parts. We also created an inspection process using a coordinate measuring machine (CMM) to check tolerances and record data on each part. Finally, we implemented a vacuum processing system to hermetically seal the parts for shipping and to keep them protected during storage.
- The need for a custom-designed seal for an intravenous application brought a Bay Area medical firm to Pacific Rubber. The firm was revamping the design of a catheter it produces, with the goal of finding a seal that would prevent saline fluid from seeping into the catheter's motor assembly. Pacific Rubber was able to develop a custom seal using thermal plastic injection. The custom seal solved the problem, and allowed the medical firm to complete its new IV application.
We seal the deal with a wide range of products.
